Music Major

Majoring in Music at Wesley College equips students with the knowledge, skill and performance experience needed to pursue a successful career.  Our comprehensive program offers a Bachelor of Arts in Music and allows students to complete concentrations in either Music History or Music Theory and Composition.

Music Education: many of our students elect to take the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree program to become a certified middle or secondary school music teachers. Usually completed in five years, students leave with a Bachelors degree in Music and a Masters degree in Education. Upon program completion, our MAT candidates graduate with a “highly qualified” designation by the state of Delaware.

The department offers a full range of courses including a four-semester sequence in Music Theory and Aural Skills, multiple courses in the history of Western Classical Music, courses in Composition, as well as additional courses in Music Technology, American Popular Music, Conducting, World Music and other topics ranging from Film Music to Opera. The Music Department offers private lessons in voice and all instrumental areas given by leading professionals in their fields.
